John Akre was given a plaque of thanks by the SNO community for his outstanding work on the board of SNO.
Minutes from last board meeting were passed.

Trish Schilling moved that SNO contribute $200 towards the Slow down the Traffic signs (for a total of $800 made by the MEND neighborhoods) , Bob Sorg seconded the motion.
motion passed unanimously.
Jenny Fortman mad a motion to spend $250 for an ad to announce the NRP Town meeting in June, Seaen Seconded the motion - passed unanimously.
Tannie Eschaneur from the Minnesota Dept. of Health gave an Asbestos exposure update regarding the vermiculite study and report.
April /2001 the study was engaged - 6500 people in the study
Participants were divided into risk groups:
Workers had highest exposure
People who jumped into the piles for fun
Driveway exposure
Garden exposure
There is no known sage level of exposure so the Health dept determined more than half the people were free of exposure. There is cancer that is specifically related with asbestos
exposure. The final report will be as of June 2004. Open house was June 17th 2003 held at Logan Park where people could drop by and learn more.
Aprox. 260 properties cleaned with a remainder of aprox. 60 to go. Vermiculite insulation is being looked at nationally.
Brian Gorecki from Art Space gave a Grainbelt Brewery update.
Aprox. Two years ago, Artspace was contacted by the artists at the brewery to assist with purchasing their space from the MCDA. It wasn't the right time. then 18mos. Ago
MCDA readdressed the issue with the artists and artspace - they are waiting
Phase I of the development will go to the MCDA in June sometime
MCDA wants to have a return of the money that they invested in the areas of interest
MCDA has made a commitment to Artspace - artspace will make a formal presentation to acquire the space and hopes to come back to the board in 2 to 3 months with good news.
Due to financial stress the rents will increase aprox. 50 to 75 dollars. The warehouse will average
$4.50/ sq ft and the bottling house $7.50/sq ft.
Artspace asked for an easement on the riverside of the warehouse for aprox. 30 spaces.
Artspace is a natl non profit that supports artists studio and living spaces. Their involvement is purely to save the artists space.
Trish Schilling spoke about the Marshall Street Go Slow Project - The act of Civil Obedience
There was a June 7th meeting at 10am at the Catholic Elder Care to discuss this.
Neighbors are tired of the fast traffic and the numerous accidents.
The campaign to slow down the traffic will run from 1st to 37th Ave on Marshall Street. June 5th the campaign will begin with people holding up signs and slowing rush
hour traffic - the signs state "Welcome to the Neighborhood" speed limit is 30 miles per hr - please go slow.
Mike Romens gave a Ritz Theatre Update
NRP funds of $75,000 have gone to the Ballet of the Dolls for towards the rehab. of the building.
City Council meeting was held to discuss who would pay for the roof repairs etc. Paul Ostrow said he would see if there are city funds to repair the roof. Mike said it is deteriorating
at t rapid rate near crisis.
Craig Harris is the contact person - they need aprox. 1.8 million for the renovation.

John Akre spoke of the housing development for the Grainbelt brewery - Ross Feffercorn the developer May 20th asked to extend his development rights which
expire June 6th 2003, and to approve plans for the phase I development.
Trish will ask Ross to come before the board in June.
In the Eastside Neighborhood services parking lot June 7th was a free NE Jam with Radio Disney for neighborhood fun.
Due to CCP sage budget cuts Karen Abramson is laid off. There will be one safe team for all of the neighborhoods North of Broadway. The team consists of a
Civilian and an officer.
SNO shoes walk is June 25th at 5pm at the SNO Kiosk

run an ad - Eeris makes a motion for $250 cap for advertising for the town mtg June 14 - to be in the June 5th NEaster - Seaen seconds - motion passed.

Marshall Street Housing Task Force June 7th meeting - Sherman Associates with Jim Bartlett regarding the Marshall Street Housing project.
Ross Feffercorn regarding Grain Belt brewery Housing project will be there.
Nancy Pray from the MCDA would like a letter from SNO that we have no objection to the sale of a vacant lot at 1522 University to be bought by people that have house next to the
small lot.
Bob Sorg said that he will write the letter.
