The Sheridan Neighborhood Community Programming Committee (CPC) usually meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7-8:30 pm. Due to rain it has been moved to April 23rd. Have you been concerned about the infrastructure issues that are causing flooding at the intersection of 13th and 2nd?  Would you like to help get this project moved up the list of public works projects?  Please mark your calendars for the upcoming CLIC Meeting where we can voice our options and concerns about the need to address the reconstructing of 13th Avenue NE and 2 nd Street NE.
Both projects have yet to be allocated funds from the City. They are expected to be awarded within the next 5 years. Your attendance and feedback are crucial in helping this needed street repair and improvement get prioritized by the City Public Works Department.

So, mark your calendars for the upcoming CLIC meetings: 
 

• Thursday, April 18th at 6 pm at Audubon Rec Center

• Thursday, May 2nd at 6:15 at Lynnhurst Rec Center

• Joint Public Hearing with CLIC and the Planning Commission on May 9th at 6 pm (tentative for now).

 
All three of these are specifically for community members to share their input on specific projects, which can be helpful for CLIC members to hear when it comes to scoring them and writing comments on specific ones.

Are you passionate about art and beer and your community? We're thrilled to announce an open call for artwork submissions for our Collaboration beer, "My Name Is Peaches." We're seeking unique and captivating designs to adorn our beer cans and engage with our audience. This is your chance to have your art featured on our limited-edition cans!

About the Beer: "My Name Is Peaches!" is a refreshing peach cobbler wheat ale that bursts with the flavors of ripe peaches. It's a celebration of vibrant taste and creativity brewed at Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative.  The proceeds from this beer go to support SNO and our Partnership Engagement Fund Partners, L.L.C.O.O.L.J., Colectiva Bilingüe, Black Business Enterprises, Loving Lotus and Broadcast the Bridge.

Guidelines for Artwork Submission:

• Artwork should reflect the spirit and essence of "My Name Is Peaches!" beer.

• Submissions can include illustrations, paintings, graphic designs, or any visual art form.

• Designs must be suitable for printing on a beer can label (rectangle, the label is 5”x 8”).

• An .eps vector file is the best format, but we can work with something that is hand drawn/painted.

Submission Details:

• Deadline for submissions: 1/15/2024 @ 6:30 pm

• Send your high-resolution artwork or design proposals to sno@sheridanneighborhood.org with the subject line: "My Name Is Peaches! Art Submission."

• Include your name, contact information, a brief description of your artwork, a bio (300 words or less) and any relevant social media handles or portfolio links.

Selection Process:

• Our team of judges will review all submissions and select the design that best embodies the essence of "My Name Is Peaches!" 

• The chosen artist will receive recognition on our cans, social media features, SNO gear and $250 cash prize.

Support kids in our community with new beds and Dream Kits! Minneapolis nonprofit My Very Own Bed is celebrating the 10th year of their fun family-friendly event, Beds & Bluegrass, on Dec. 9. 

Minneapolis' "big fun string band" Luke Warm & the Cool Hands returns for the 10th year, along with music by Jazicality and Tess & the Anchormen. The event includes fun games for the kids, craft beers by Bauhaus Brew Labs and Broken Clock Brewing Cooperative, delicious appetizers, an exciting silent auction filled with unique gifts and experiences, and a program emceed by Nyia Harris. The Saint Anthony West Neighborhood Organization & the Sheridan Neighborhood Organization are excited to co-host the 2023 Historic Riverfront 5K!

Early Bird discount registration for the 19th Annual Historic Riverfront 5K runs through August 11th - register for $25 vs $40 on race day.

Fall colors will be changing, making this 5K one of the most enjoyable times of the year to appreciate the Minneapolis riverfront and downtown landscape. Rain or shine, we have a great time!

• Race Start time at 9 am, Saturday, October 7 (check-in starts at 7:30am)

• Early check-in available on Friday, October 6, 4-6pm at Mill City Running (411 E Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis)

• Historic Riverfront 5k stocking hat included in registration

• Prizes for top winners in male/female, 65+, and 18 and under by Mill City Running

• Kramarczuk's brats hot off the grill at the end of the race

Welcome to the final Invasive Plant Removal Event of the season with Friends of the Mississippi River and Mississippi Watershed Management Organization!

We have started a long term partnership to help maintain the river banks along the Mississippi at Sheridan Memorial Park. We will be learning about invasive species, how to identify them, how to remove them effectively and eventually planting native species to revitalize the landscape. We will meet at the Sheridan Veterans Memorial at 6 pm, where the FMR will educate us on the project and then we will start the invasive plant removal. We will provide the gloves, water, bags, snacks and tools. Please be sure to sign up! The river is one of Sheridan’s greatest assets and something that we as a community can work together to preserve.
